What is a Moisturising Hair Mask?
Moisturising Hair Mask | The Heart of your Hair Care Routine
Moisturising hair masks are more concentrated than conditioners. Used weekly Restore and Shine Hair Masque intensifies your routine of washing and conditioning by introducing moisture to the hair’s core whilst smoothing the cuticle to prevent moisture loss.

Dry Hair and Moisture Loss
Hair becomes dry for three reasons:
- Environmental – Sun, wind and indoor heating are all drying for the hair.
- Damage – Hair can become damaged and split from excessive styling.
- Genes – Hair may be naturally dry. Some hair types such as curly hair are more prone to becoming dry.
Restore Moisture Loss

Whatever the cause of dry hair, moisture loss has to be restored in order to reduce frizzy hair and get smooth, shiny hair and improve hair volume. By combining moisturising and smoothing ingredients, Restore and Shine Hair Masque locks in moisture for smooth, frizz-free, shiny hair without compromising on volume. Restore and Shine Hair Masque leaves no residue, making it suitable for all hair types, including fine hair.
1. Pro Vitamin B5 for Hair Health
Pro vitamin b5 is a cornerstone ingredient for my hair-health-boosting moisturising hair mask. Pro vitamin b5 is small enough to penetrate the cuticle, it can get moisture right to the hair’s core, plumping our the cuticle for improved hair volume and styling.
2. Glycerin is a Moisturising Hair Mask Essential
Glycerin is the perfect partner for pro-vitamin b5 as it helps the hair retain moisture for deep conditioning. Not only does it improve moisture level in hair, it improves elasticity, leaving hair easier to style.
3. Cetearyl Alcohol to Lock in Hair’s Moisture
Cetearyl Alcohol is a natural fatty alcohol that smooths the cuticle to lock in moisture. Cetearyl alcohol, in its raw form, has a soft, creamy texture. Found in high-end skin care to soften the skin, don’t confuse it with sensitising alcohol. Cetearyl Alcohol adds moisture and smooths and softens the hair, giving the hair slip so that it’s easy to detangle.Â

Long Hair Care | How to Condition
When conditioning long hair, treat it like your most delicate item of clothing. We are talking about that beautiful silk dress or that soft cashmere sweater that you love to pair with your favourite jeans. Hair is a delicate natural fabric and gentle is the watchword when caring for your hair.

Grey Hair | Expert Salon Tips
We can’t talk about grey hair without talking about the shift in attitudes to ageing. I think that is important because it influences how you feel about your hair. In particular, what going grey means for you. Perhaps it changes how you see yourself or your perceptions of how others see you. I’ve been in the hairdressing business for a long time, and I’ve seen many changes. One of the most positive changes is that women of all ages are choosing to embrace their grey hair. It’s a personal choice, but I love it.

Curly Hair Care | Expert Advice
My mantra when it comes to curly hair is to keep it simple. You don’t need multiple curly hair products. I believe in taking a simple approach for maximum impact. What curly hair needs at the most fundamental level is moisture. Moisture is the foundation for any curly hair care routine.Â

Frizzy hair is often associated with curly hair, but any hair type can become frizzy. My mantra when it comes to hair is to keep it simple. I believe in taking a simple approach for maximum impact.Â
What hair needs at the most fundamental level is moisture. Moisture is the foundation of a good hair care routine. If you’ve ever battled with a halo of frizz or your hair never looks glossy or shiny, it’s time to get serious about adding moisture.

Shiny Hair | How to Get Shiny Hair | 8 Ways to Shine Hair
Shiny hair is hydrated hair. Based on over 35 years of salon experience, I can tell you that quick fixes claiming to leave your hair glossy and shiny may be tempting, but often, they leave hair feeling drier and more lacklustre. The truth is, for hair to be shiny, it must have moisture. If hair is dry, a shine spray or serum might give you a temporary gloss, but it won’t tackle the root cause of the problem. If you want shiny hair, it is time to get serious about moisture.Â

I write about all aspects of healthy, shiny hair. From preventing frizzy hair to stopping split ends and styling bob hairstyles I share my experience of how to get the best from hair.
Whether I’m working with hair, writing about hair or developing hair care products I stay true to 3 principles.
1. Less is More
This is a principle I have adhered to all my hairdressing career and it gets the best results. I like to minimise the heat stress to hair from heated styling tools and take a simpler approach to styling. Over working the hair can leave it dry, damaged and flat. A simple approach is the best way to add volume to hair and keep hair looking and feeling smooth and shiny.
2. Hair needs Moisture
Moisture is the foundation of good hair care. Hair needs a routine of deep conditioning to stay frizz free and retain flexibility and strength. When it has moisture, hair elasticity is maintained, making hair easier to style.
3. Great Hair Care is Holistic
Holistic in the context of hair care is about making sure we eat a healthy, balanced diet and that we feed our hair with nourishing products. Maintaining hydration in the body contributes to good quality hair growth. Using nourishing hair products ensures our hair can retain moisture.
You’ll see these principles threaded through my blogs. My goal is to share the simplest tools and techniques to give you easy ways to care for and style your hair at home.
